Hope you a grand Easter, and better than mine (hot oil on the thumb; terrible burn). I was able to do a decent dairy-free, egg-free, partially whole wheat hot cross bun (little dense but good) & and a wonderful hummingbird cake from the 2020 gbbo cookbook. Spring baking is the best. Have a great week!
Happy Easter Steph. Thanks for the thoughts - so well put. This is a lovely time of year. And I am going to try to not feel guilty believing that the best parts of Easter are the sweets!
Have a Happy Easter Steph, I’m completely with you on Spring being the best time of the year - after the cold, wet and windy winter, where my garden looks like a total no-go zone, to see a blue sky, vivid green grass, blossom and flowers appearing is a real lift along with the longer days and warmer temperatures. Love it! I like the sound of GB’s tips for a happier outlook, they make a lot of sense, like you I’m prone to introspection and while it’s my default setting, it’s not good to spend too long inside your own head, all sense of perspective goes out of the window. I will be referencing them over the coming days and weeks until they’re more of a habit. Last week’s SU2C bake-off was hilarious, Lucy’s showstopper was such a disaster! Not that I would do any better...
Anyhow, hope this week goes better, we’re here for you whatever! 🥰
Hey Steph! Just another admirer of your news letter here. I struggle with similar anxieties you do, and while it leaves room for a lot of loneliness, it also brings in some wizardry that not everyone gets to experience: True joy in the little things in life. Keep on enjoying the flowers, birds, and walks - I will too! We're doing just fine. (You're doing incredible in my opinion) - Katie
PS: (also, this feels weird to do on a public comment board on the internet, but alas) I would love to be friends as cheesy as that sounds! If you ever want to become pen pals, let me know. I live in Texas, I'm 24, been through a lot of surgeries the past few years so I'm kinda starting from scratch with life in general, introvert, lover of the little things, avid observer and day dreamer. So cheesy. Ah ok hope no one reads this but you! bYE!
Your cookie experiments have looked so amazing! Can’t wait to hear about your experiments. I always appreciate hearing about your ups and downs. I think because I’m mostly in the anxiety/stress/dread trenches week in and week out too, it’s so comforting to know other people are going through the same and you always end with some encouragement to us that is that much more insightful because of what you’re going through. I hope you see that silver lining and know you’re casting a ray of warmth around you 😊. Hope your cookie trials continue to go well and have a blessed week. Hope your Easter was good!
